About Braşov Braşov is located in the central part of the country and it is surrounded by Carpathian Mountains. Braşov, a city with an attested history of over 700 years lies at the foot of Mount Tâmpa. The city is at 175 km north from Bucharest. Former medieval fortress, Braşov preserves a lot from the unique charm of those times. The main attractions are: Old City Hall, Council Square, Black Church, Citadel, First Romanian School etc. Other than Braşov city, Viscri (80 km), Sighisoara (100 km) and Biertan (146 km) represent important attractive areas for tourists. About Transilvania University of Braşov Transilvania University of Brașov has about 20,000 students enrolled in the bachelor’s degree programmes and master's degree programmes that are available in its 18 faculties, covering all fundamental domains, such as engineering sciences, exact sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities, medicine, physical education and sports. The university runs programmes meant to contribute to the stimulation and intellectual development of school and high school students in Brașov. Dedicated professors from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science train young mathematicians for renowned competitions. From a didactic point of view, the Mathematics and Computer Science Department coordinates five bachelor's degree programmes in the fields of mathematics and computer science, four master's degree programmes and two professional conversion programmes. The department also coordinates the activity of eight doctoral supervisors in two priority fields - mathematics and computer science. |
