About Brasov and how to reach it:

Brasov is situated in central Romania, in the historical region of Transylvania and is surrounded from three sides by the Carpathian Mountains. Thanks to its well preserved medieval city center and its natural surroundings, it is one of the top touristic attractions of Romania. Depending on your spare time, you may consider booking some more days, here are some ideas of places to visit:

How to reach Brasov:

By plane:

  • Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport (AIBG) offers some (yet, quite limited) possibilities, see: https://brasovairport.ro/ .

  • From Brasov airport to the city center, there is a metropolitan bus connection (A1). A bus trip costs 4 RON (0.8 Euros); bus tickets can be bought via the mobile app 24pay.

    Another option are ridesharing companies such as Bolt or Uber, a ride costs approx. 40 RON (8 Euros).
  • Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport (OTP); this is, for the moment, the best connected nearby airport.

To arrive from Bucharest OTP airport, you have the following options:

 - Door-to-door shuttle services; one trip takes around 2h30’ (under normal traffic conditions - see below), the price varies between 20 and 30 Euros/person, here are just some suggestions:

  - Trains. Train travel, via Bucharest central station (Gara de Nord) takes a little longer (~3h30’); yet, it does not depend on the traffic conditions.  Train tickets can also be bought via the 24pay mobile app or online, at: https://bilete.infofer.ro/en-GB/Itineraries .        

Bucharest travel tip: It is advisable to avoid car/shuttle trips and use trains instead, if you plan your travel on:

- Bucharest to Brasov on Friday afternoon or evening;

- Brasov to Bucharest on Sunday afternoon or evening, as the road traffic can be extremely intense on those days.

  • Sibiu Airport (SBZ), 140 km far from Braşov, is another possibility. Door-to-door shuttle transport is also available, a trip takes around 2 hours.
